DSpeech is a TTS (Text To Speech) program with functionality of ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) integrated. It is able to to read aloud the written text and choose the sentences to be pronounced based upon the vocal answers of the user. It is specifically designed to quickly and directly provide the functions and improved practical usefulness that are requested by this kind of program. In the meantime, the invasiveness and resource consumption is minimal.
(DSpeech does not install itself, is very light, starts in a second and doesn’t write anything to the registry).
Features:
- Allows you to save the output as a .WAV, .MP3, AAC, WMA or OGG file.
- Allows you to quickly select different voices, even combine them, or juxtapose them in order to create dialogues between different voices.
- DSpeech integrates a vocal recognition system that, through a simple script language, allows you to create interactive dialogues with the user.
- Allows you to configure the voices in an independent way.
- Thanks to apposite TAGs, it allows you to dynamically change the features of the voices during the playback (speed, volume and frequency), to insert pauses, emphasize specific words, or even to spell them out.
- Allows you to capture and reproduce the content of the ClipBoard.
- DSpeech is compatible with all vocal engines (SAPI 4-5 compliant).
- AI dialog system. Not really useful, but amusing. It does not work in every language.

Windows XP is already SAPI5 compliant.
DSpeech uses the vocal engines installed on system, by default Windows XP has only Microsoft SAM.
The better and famous vocal engines come from Cepstral, Ivona, RealSpeak, Loquendo, Acapela and VoiceWare.

Changelog:
- Added a dialog that allows you to open recently opened documents, it can be displayed at every startup or at the request of the user during the execution (from the File menu or using the Ctrl + R).
- Introduced a new option (enabled by default) which allows you to activate a group of simplified HotKeys for the most common tasks. For example, to start or stop the reading of the text, just press the spacebar.
- Returns more intuitive names of some options and menu items.
- Removed the easteregg (altogether useless).
- Note version for Translators: different options now have a tooltip (the comic that appears when you stand on it with the mouse) that explain most of the function to which they refer; can be translated without problems, however council to wait before you do, in fact, my English is not perfect and it is likely that in the next versions of some of them will be changed.
- Added Splash Screen initial one (can be disabled from the Options menu -> Advanced).
- Changes and Fix minors.
